Hi there people, denizens of this forgotten land,

As you might have noticed (and even if you haven’t, which is totally fine) I’ve not been uploading since October 2020. There was one remake piece I posted back in February of this year, but that’s been about it.

I always found it sad I left DeviantArt behind in favor for Instagram. I loved DeviantArt and it was where my community was, but younger me decided to try and follow the numbers and the trends and move over to Instagram.

Did it work? For a while, it did, but as my personal life changed, even posting to Instagram fell away to the leeway.

I wasn’t in a good relationship with art for the last few years. I got a full-time job in March of 2021 but even before that in 2020 and even as far back as 2019 my art wasn’t as it was due to me trying to pursue projects I didn’t feel good about nor wanted to pursue. I didn’t know myself enough and tried to go towards a direction I didn’t like in the end, but I think I needed to go through this process in my artistic process. The truth is, I didn’t do much art at all for the last two years. None. Not even for me personally. I didn’t feel like I should and I didn’t feel a need to. My brain was so tired of adjusting to a work schedule of full time work, which kicked my butt, we had this plague raging across the lands that stripped me of my energy and some personal changes left my searching for different pursuits. I got big-time into video-gaming, I tried to read (and failed) and most days just sat around doing nothing.

Cutting a long story short, I am finally healing towards my situation with art. My brain is liking doing art as a relaxation activity again on a semi-daily basis, I’m making time in my schedule to do art and I’m making it a priority. It’s lovely trying to reconnect with a creative part, a part that is so essential to us artists, and enjoy all the artworks. This post is mostly explaining where I was and trying to mention that you might see me more and more over the upcoming weeks! I got some small artworks to share I did over my absence but I’m also in the midst of new artwork projects!

Secondly I’ve been getting likes on most of my old art here or there, by people finding my art serendipitously and liking it. I wanna say that I love all of you. The loyal fans, the art friends and the people that randomly drop by! You’re all amazing and I am giving so much love to all of you. I hope you have the amazing week you can have and enjoy whatever you are doing.

That’s it for me today, thank you again for all being here, and I hope to meet you all again if you’re still around! Greets,

Your pal Hans

Hello there fellow Devianters,

How are you all? How have you been doing? I hope you’re all having a great day :3

It seems I’m making a post like this every few months, so I hope this will be the last one in a while.

Recently I’ve come to the attention that I’m full of stories to tell and I can easily make illustrations based upon these stories, but those illustrations all lack something important. Almost all of them have a mistake in their fundamental basis of art and I want to tackle this in the upcoming months. I want to tackle my understanding of the subject in art in general, just like any art school would teach you and I will do this by buying books about anatomy and art fundamentals and trying to do little practises dispersed throughout every week so I’m able to consistently improve at a higher rate than I’ve done before. This is project 1 that I will be tackling in 2019

  1. To improve my understanding of art fundamentals such as form, perspective, shapes, light, colour theory, anatomy of both animals and humans

To add to this I want to keep painting and I want to do this in a few different ways. I’ve recently bought some watercolour sketchbooks as I’m committing to understanding more of watercolour art and the only way to improve this is by simply painting a lot. I will do this in two ways;

2. To have fun with watercolour and understand it more by drawing whatever the hell I like and trying out new and exciting techniques using my watercolour art.

As to tie watercolour in with improvement I want to focus on a 3th and last project that will hopefully take care of my want to paint more complex matters as well but will still focus on improvement alongside watercolour art fun.

3. To choose a certain subject every week or two and do studies about this one subject I’ve never done before. This subject will focus in such way that I will learn something I haven’t done before and I will learn to paint and draw a new subject I’ve never tackled before as to further enrichen my visual library as well as improve in my process to make art, for example, adding more studies and more preliminary work in colour studies and value studies as to make the best paintings possible.

These are all the things I would like to tackle for most of the remainder of this year and I will try to focus as best as I can to keep my head on these projects focused on my own development. Once finished I can use all this development to start illustrating and writing my own picture books but for now I’d rather focus on making my art just a little bit better ^--^

So, that was my time to be an egotistical little sun in my own universe, let’s turn the tables. How are all of you guys and what are your plans for the upcoming months in art and such?
